Back to home

And here she is, fresh from the paint shop.   All shiny, looking new.  The windows are held in by just a few screws as they will need to be sealed up properly back at home.

At the spray booth

It looked sooo lonely in the spray booth!!   The guys at the spray booth rubbed the remainder of the caravan back.  Taped all that wasn't to be painted up....   Owen made sure the new doors and windows were out so they wouldn't get a touch of paint on them..

Stone Guard

A new aluminium stoneguard replaced the old rubber stone guard which was practically falling apart.   It looks so nice and shiny, I wonder for how long though when we will be hitting gravel roads on our holidays, for now, its great as a mirror :)

Caravan Exterior

We decided to have the exterior of the caravan professionally painted.   In order to save a few $$ we'd rub back the paint ourselves.    Thankfully we have handy people as neighbours to lend a hand!!   Our pastor spend a morning and evening helping out, and also another local neighbour spend an evening giving a hand.  Thanks heaps for your help!!

There are new panels on the back and front where the old windows used to be.

Toilet

Our throne has arrived!!   One super duper deluxe toilet :)
It has an outlet on the side to outside, so it is easy to empty....  and thankfully that is HIS job!!    Mine is the keep the toilet clean inside the caravan.  The other two panels in the photo are for the otherside of the caravan to allow access from outside to underneath the master bed.

Here is this handy man of mine trying out the toilet....
practising his whisteling on the toilet already!   or is that him checking out my spider webs on my super high ceiling??  One can't help but LOVE this man of mine!!

Toilet area

This is the toilet area.  There is a shower basin on the floor.  On the black part will be a toilet positioned.  The walls will be waterproof, and we hope to spray the window with some type of window frosting for privacy.
As you can see on this photo, the toilet is next to the 'master' bedroom.

Outside

Here is a photo of the outside of the caravan.   The middle window is the one we added to it.
Notice that the roof is curled up?  The electrical wires run under the roof.  Soon insulation will be added to the roof and then it will be rolled back again and sealed up.  Also note there are no tyres on the caravan at the moment.   We hope to change the axel and add the same tyres as the car tyres.  So when we happen to get a flat tyre, we never have to worry about not having a spare around.

Bunk beds

Here is a few photos of the triple bunkbed.  The beds fit a normal single size mattress... so no fiddling around trying to find the right size sheets.
Notice all the curves in the caravan are all the same!!

Bed lights

The caravan has been worked on whenever dear hubby has found some spare time.  His favourite thing was connecting all the lights, its his speciality :)

He installed two downlights in the 'master' bedroom for those romantic evenings
And even a main bedroom light.  The cupboard above the bed will have doors on it.

Boy bag

Our little boy has been stuffing his church bible bag way to full and so the seams broke the other day.

Of course he wanted a new one to carry all his bibles in (he likes to carry an adult bible version and a childrens bible version and a psalmbook and a notepad and a pen, and if I don't watch it there are cars in the bag too!!

Anyway, a bit of googling the other night for some ideas made me remember this tutorial I saw a while ago.  A scripture bag.   I used opa's (granddad) shirt and an old tie from dad, and I turned it into this!!!

We've kept the old shirt pocket on, and under the tie are the real buttons of opa's shirt still attached!!

You know, he absolutely loves it!!! and his brother wants one too now!!

I came across this lovely idea on Pinterest.   A fabric maze...
This is my version, with an animal/jungle fabric on the front.  A great idea for fiddly boys!

Iron board

A lovely friend of mine gave me an ironboard which her children had outgrown.  I gave it a lovely recover as the fabric had gotten quite filthy over the many years of use...
 Measuring some fabric
 Removing the iron stand
 check out the dirt..
Overlocking the edges for a nicer finish.
Using the electric nail gun to nail it all in place (I am glad we bought an electric nailgun instead of a manual one)
and voila, a new iron board for my little girl.

Prayer Points

I found this lovely idea on pinterest somewhere, and I thought it was such a nice idea that it was made and implemented straight away.  All different prayer points are writen on popsicle sticks and at dinner time our kids get to choose a stick which we will talk about and then include in our prayer.

Recorder Bag

There is this pretty girl I know, who is learning to play the recorder!  But her recorder didn't have a bag... so when I had a moment of quiet I came up with this for her :)

chalkboard pots

In the holidays we went past our local hardware store and purchased some cheap terracotta pots and plates.    I then used a spray can of chalkboard paint and sprayed the pots and plates.
After a dry in the sun, a second coat was applied.  and after another dry in the sun, we planted some pot plants....
The kids learned about chalk, and both boys had a pot to write, draw pictures on.
and I have added some more decor to our lovely home!

Pram Refurbishment

You may recall some time ago, I posted this post, about a project in progress.
So here is the final product....
It finally made its way back to my sisters home.  There had been numerous times where my little girl had sneaked the pram into the games room and played with it herself.
Now she will just have to visit her favourite aunts house more often to be able to play with this pram.
The fabric was chosen by my sister.  I took of the old pram cover and basically used it as a pattern.  The old pram cover was just single sided fabric.  I made it into fabric showing on both sides.  Although you cannot see it on the photos, there is some 'rigrag' ribbon on the edge at the front, there is also elastic in the front to give it the curtain effect.
Thank you sis A for taking the photos for me :)
